HD Mutual has decided to consolidate to a single office in 2025.
Over the course of HD Mutual’s first year, much learning was had as the company began to work together. During this time, consideration was given on whether to reduce the company’s facilities to a single building. A detailed review has been undertaken by the Board of Directors and Management. Following many in-depth conversations, the decision has been made to keep the Guelph facility and begin the process of selling the Sheffield building.
Factors that influenced this decision were the gained efficiency in operational costs and facilities management efforts, continued hybrid work ability for the HD Mutual team, as well as physical advantages to the Guelph office that superseded the attributes of the Sheffield location, including full municipal services, transit connection, 3rd party courier services, prominence in an established business park, and proximity to the 401.
This news was shared with HD Mutual staff in late January 2025. As the company prepares to transition to a single building, we want to reaffirm our commitment to our HD Mutual members. We will continue to operate with a physical office location, we welcome partners, policyholders, and prospective insureds to our office to meet with our team when needed, to make premium payments, and for the pick-up of a payment or drop off of any documentation during an open claims process. We look forward to continuing to serve our members with the same warm, personal service as you have come to know.
The company plans to renovate the existing Guelph facility to better serve the needs of the expanded team, and in the meantime, the Sheffield facility is being prepared for sale. Operations are expected to move officially and fully to Guelph in Q4 of 2025.
